Yeung Wing Chun (not the Kung Fu style) is entering her second year of study in the BSc (Hons) Radiography programme at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her friends call her Andrea. She is shy but always pretends not to be, with mixed results. She likes staying at home to play piano, watch dramas and movies, and chit chat with her family, but she never says no when her friends ask her to hang out.

Author’s Introduction

When I was choosing a topic for an assignment for the course ELC2011 Advanced English Reading and Writing Skills, I wanted to write something informative, and at the same time, engaging. Clarifying the rumours about radiographers in a light-hearted tone allowed me to defend myself and my chosen profession, and more importantly, helped me to get the best grade I’ve ever had in a university English subject. I typically write academic essays, so I enjoyed freeing my supressed humour and irony in the feature article.

I was afraid that my English writing wasn’t good enough to be published. Thanks to my editor, my confidence increased and my language improved. Equipped with the experience of publishing in a journal, I am better prepared for any possible publication in the future.
