  1. What is the goal of this ejournal?
    The goal of the ejournal is to provide a platform for Undergraduate students to showcase written work that they have produced while an Undergraduate student at the HK Polytechnic University or abroad.
  2. What kind of work can be published?
    Any piece of written work that you have done as part of your Undergraduate programme at the HK Polytechnic University or abroad can be submitted for consideration. This could be an argumentative essay, a research paper, a book review, a report, a narrative, or even a poem.
  3. Why should I publish?
    Much of the work that you submit as part of coursework requirements or as personal writing may be of a standard such that, with modifications, it could be published. The process of editing and revising your paper will give you valuable experience of how publications are finalised in the professional world. You may also enjoy the idea of sharing your ideas within the HK Polytechnic University campus and the community at large.
  4. How often is the journal published?

  6. Who will edit my paper?
    Editors and reviewers of submissions are members of academic staff from within the HK Polytechnic University and possibly from invited institutions.
  7. Who will review my paper?
    Editors and reviewers of submissions are members of academic staff from within the HK Polytechnic University, and other universities.
  8. Can I be a peer reviewer or editor for the ejournal?
    You are welcome to apply to be a peer reviewer for submissions or an editor. Please send an initial enquiry via the Contact Us link for this position.
  9. What does a blind reviewer do?
    A blind reviewer will review papers without knowing the identity of the person who has authored the paper. In this way, the objectivity of the comments and suggestions made by the reviewer can be ensured.
  10. What kind of referencing system should I use?
    Sources and images referred to as part of submissions must be fully referenced according to the APA (The American Psychological Association), IEEE or MLA (if applicable).
  11. What happens to the ownership of my submitted article?
    Any submissions that are approved for publication will have rights reverted back to the Author immediately upon publication. You will need to sign a document to agree to this if your submission is approved for publication. However, the English Language Centre will still retain the rights to use your submissions as part of its archived journals.
  12. Does my article need to have an abstract?
    In general, your submission should contain an abstract or a prelude (depending on the genre of the submission)
  13. How recently written does my submission have to be?
    Submissions will be accepted as long as they have been written while you were an Undergraduate student at the HK Polytechnic University or at an overseas institution. For example, if you are in your final year, you may still submit work even if you are graduating that semester.
  14. How do I obtain rights for images that are contained in my submissions?
    It is essential that you do this to avoid intellectual property right infringement.  Permission must be obtained from the copyright holder in writing and evidence of this must be provided to the ejournal publication board. For samples of letters requesting the use of images click [here].
  15. Does my paper need to have a received a high grade to be considered for publication?
    In general, submissions that are part of coursework assignments should have obtained at least a B+.
  16. Where do I send my paper?
    In order for your paper to be published, it must meet certain criteria. See the Submission Guidelines link for these criteria. If all the criteria are met you may submit your paper according to the guidelines.
