DESCRIBING the perfect holiday

Examples

Example 1

My idea of a perfect holiday is a week or two on a tropical island. It would have golden sandy beaches, palm trees swaying in the wind and sparkling clear blue water. There would be some little restaurants on the beach, where you could buy a delicious snack or a meal, an ice cream or a drink and you could go swimming or snorkelling.

I'd stay in a beach hut with a big comfortable bed and mosquito net and fan but no aircon, so you could lie in bed and listen to the sound of the waves through the open window at night. Outside the hut, between two coconut palms, there'd be a hammock to lie in and read novels or just daydream. I'd like to go with my boyfriend and a group of other friends, so we can play volleyball and have barbeques on the beach in the evening. It all sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

Example 2

Well, the perfect holiday for me would be traveling overseas, away from where I live now, and hopefully going somewhere where I haven't been before. I would like to visit cities, particularly if there is some history attached to them, something historical; I really like to see the past of the country; it doesn't have to be very old, but I prefer if there’s some historical value to it. I would also like to see the nature; I have in the past been on holiday where I've been in the wilderness …. like New Zealand for example where I used to go trekking. I was trekking in some very nice parts of the wilds in New Zealand and that I think is a delightful holiday; so that could also be a possible holiday for the future, where I can trek, see the nature, see the coastline. I think it's very important to explore the natural beauty of a country……and also the beauty of the cities.

Example 3

My ideal holiday includes trips to Europe but the best trip I've had here in Asia has been to a place called Boracay in the Philippines. It's known for its famous white sandy beach, about 3-4 miles long, and also the other side of the island has great windsurfing. The winds are consistently about 15-20 knots from December to mid-March. The windsurfing there has always been great; it's nice and shallow water so you never have problems but if you ever do have problems, the water's only 3-4 feet deep & crystal blue: it's beautiful. They also do some great diving off Boracay, they have about 4-5 wrecks they've put down there, it’s great for the fish and coral to grow, and the food is also really good in the Philippines…funnily enough though, only on Boracay.

Example 4

My ideal holiday is to go to a place, with nobody else there; there would be tree and a hammock and nothing else, well maybe a waterfall; that would be paradise. But, perhaps I’d prefer to go back to where I was born; there’s a shoreline there and lots of coconut trees. The water was very clean at that time, but I don't know, maybe it's polluted now. So, that's where I’d like to go on my holiday; somewhere nobody knows me. If it's just for a month, I’d prefer to go by myself. And I’d want to eat lots of seafood, which I catch by myself! You know, I used to do that when I was young.

Example 5

My ideal holiday would be to be surrounded with very white beaches. One of my holidays ... was in Ocean Grove in Australia, we were at the Wire river just out of a little town. What I liked about the Wire river was there was a little house, we stayed at a cottage and every morning we would walk across the road, it was 100 meters, dare each other to go in for a swim ... run into the surf, it was just freezing cold and then we'd just pretend it was a summer day although it was raining and we would walk down under the cliff, then we would dare ourselves to find the best rock pool we could find the best one had a rock pool and a waterfall and we went skinny dipping in that. It was fantastic.
