DESCRIBING the perfect home

Examples

Example 1

I would like to live in a luxury apartment right in the city centre. As you know, Hong Kong has very high skyscrapers and I'd like to be as high up as possible, maybe the 25th or the 30th floor, so the view would be spectacular. I would be able to look down on other buildings and the traffic far below. My apartment would be modern, clean and light and easy to maintain. I'd like three bedrooms including one for guests; so my friends can come and stay, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen with very modern appliances; cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave oven, etc.

I'd keep the furniture simple and modern in design. I like IKEA furniture. I'd have a wooden parquet floor in the living room, with a rug or two and pictures on the walls. My bedroom would be cosy, with soft lighting and music. Roof access or a balcony would be great; I'd grow plants there.

Example 2

My idea of a perfect home is somewhere remote, away from the city. I would choose a two storey house made of wood, simple but quite large, with a sloping roof, like a Swiss chalet. There would be a large dining room with an enormous wooden table and carved wooden chairs. A crystal chandelier would be magnificent hanging over the table. There would be a big brick hearth and a chimney, so we could light a fire in winter.

Upstairs, the bedrooms would have four poster beds and stained glass windows and there would be a library and a pool room. I think my ideal home would be somewhere with a colder climate than here, maybe some snow in winter. Yeah, that would be nice.

Example 3

I suppose my idea of a perfect home would be living somewhere in a rural district, out in the country, perhaps in a tropical area. It would probably be all one level, lots of lovely shade, perhaps some palm trees and other trees, but there'd be lots of room outside, a big garden perhaps with a swimming pool, tennis courts, a nice patio area outside the dining room, to entertain friends, with an outside bar and barbeque area. Every bedroom would be a double one, with ensuite bathroom so I could have friends to stay for a week or two; there'd probably be a helicopter pad down the road so I wouldn't have to deliver things and of course I'd have manservants and other maids around to help around, help me with all my groceries cos actually I hate shopping. I think probably at the bottom of the garden there'd be some sort of water, maybe a lake, a beach or a river, with a boat or two so I could go water skiing in the morning or just sail to another island when I got a bit bored with my beautiful house.

Example 4

Well, first of all I would need to have a view, preferably a view of the sea. With islands and hopefully facing west so I would get a view of the sunset. I'd like my home to be fairly spacious; lots of room and fairly white and bright and clean. Probably three bedrooms, maybe four bedrooms, a study, a very modern, clean looking kitchen and a garden. I'd like to have trees and a chance for a lawn so I could have a dog running around. Yes, I think that would be my ideal home.
