1. What is the goal of Inscribe?
The goal of the journal is to provide a platform for undergraduate students to showcase written and multimodal work produced during their studies at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), including work completed while on exchange or study abroad programs.
2. What kind of work can be submitted?
We welcome any original piece of work completed either independently or as part of your coursework at PolyU (including exchange programs). Typical submissions include short stories, opinion/feature articles, poetry, digital artwork, short-form videos, and graphic short stories.
3. Why should I publish?
The process of editing and revising your work provides invaluable, hands-on experience with the professional publishing process. It is also a fantastic opportunity to share your ideas with the PolyU campus and the wider global community.

Authors typically receive an initial response within two weeks of submission. Once accepted, the pace of the editing and revision process is collaboratively determined by the student and their assigned editor.
6. What referencing style should I use?
All sources, images, and media referred to in your submission must be fully cited using the referencing system appropriate for your discipline, such as APA, IEEE, or MLA.
7. Do I need to provide additional personal information?
In addition to the initial details required during submission, students accepted for publication will be asked to submit a short bio/profile and a brief statement explaining their design rationale.
8. Who owns the copyright of my published work?
Authors/creators retain the copyright to their work. Upon acceptance, you will sign a publication agreement where rights revert back to you immediately upon publication. However, the English Language Centre retains the right to host and archive your submission as part of the journal.
9. How do I obtain rights for images or media in my submission?
To avoid copyright infringement, you must obtain written permission from the copyright holder for any third-party images or media used in your submission. Proof of this permission must be provided to the editorial board. We highly encourage the use of copyright-free or Creative Commons-licensed materials.
10. Does my coursework submission need to have received a high grade?
Generally, submissions originally produced as coursework assignments should have obtained a grade of B+ or above to be considered for publication.
