The Challenges of the 4-year Curriculum for English Language Centres in Hong Kong
We are inviting papers and workshop sessions on any topic relevant to the four-year undergraduate university curriculum e.g. curriculum development, materials design, eLearning, assessment and learning management systems.
Papers
Paper presenters are asked to restrict their presentations to 30 minutes; a further 10 minutes will be allocated for questions. Each session will therefore last 40 minutes.
Workshops
Workshop sessions must include active audience participation in the form experiencing and discussing the tasks provided by the workshop facilitator. Workshop sessions will be 40 minutes long.
Submitting abstracts
Abstracts of papers and workshops should be 150-200 words long and should include a title not exceeding 10 words.
Abstracts of papers and workshops should be submitted via the online submission process which will require presenters to register for a Symposium Presenter account. All abstracts should be submitted no later than 28 February, 2010.
Selection Process
All those submitting abstracts will be informed by 19 March, 2010 whether their abstracts have been accepted.
Criteria for Acceptance
All abstracts will be double blind reviewed. Relevance to the Symposium theme, originality and applicability to the audience are key considerations in the acceptance of papers and workshops. The Conference Committee reserves the right to decline a paper or workshop without assigning reasons.
Presenters of papers and workshops will receive acceptance emails, thereby facilitating sponsorship from their institution.
Equipment
Laptop computers and data projectors will be available in every room, and audio and/or video equipment can also be arranged if it is requested on the proposal form. Equipment requests should be confirmed when presenters register for the conference (Presenters' deadline for registration: 31 March 2010).
