Event One: Friday 15 March 2019 (Extended Proposal Submission Deadline: 10 March 2019)
Event Two: Friday 12 April 2019 (Extended Proposal Submission Deadline: 7 April 2019)
Event Three: Wednesday 15 May 2019

Event One: Reader’s Theatre
- Hosted by the ELC’s Creative Writing & Literature Interest Group

We seek proposals for personally crafted poems and prose that take on a storytelling / narrative form or include a storytelling theme, and which ideally fit with one of the WR topics. Authors of selected proposals will be invited to read one of their poems at the Reader’s Theatre, a 2-hour event which will include a sharing and discussion session of the authors’ creative writing within the context of “storytelling”.

Regardless of whether poems are published or unpublished, we ask that authors submit a copy of their work. For authors

a) choosing only to read at the pre-event: Proposals submitted with published poems will have the poems removed from the Proceedings; proposals containing unpublished poems will remain intact in the Proceedings
b) opting to be considered for the proposed volume: Only unpublished poems may be submitted.

Ideally, we intend on capping reading participation to 20 authors and 20 general audience members. Please click HERE to register for the event and join us at Room A308 (PolyU) from 6.30 pm to 8:30 pm. This event is free of charge for those who have connected with us via one of our social media pages.

Light refreshments will be served.

Event Two: New Media Narratives in Teaching & Learning Workshop
- Hosted by the ELC’s New Media in Teaching & Learning Interest Group

We seek proposals outlining how teachers have incorporated New Media and / or storytelling into their pedagogy, illustrated through a lesson plan they have either executed or plan to,and related to one of the WR themes. Authors of selected proposals will be invited to share and discuss their own and other participants’ lesson plans in the Workshop, a 2-hour event in which the workshop hosts will additionally offer ideas on how certain traditionally non-educational New Media (such as Second Life and MMORPGs) can be used in T&L and highlight possible storytelling elements in these environments.

All authors, whether opting to limit their participation to the Workshop or wishing to be considered for the proposed volume, should include a copy of their lesson plans with their proposals. Lesson plans will be published together with extended abstracts in the Proceedings.

Ideally, we intend on capping Workshop participation to 20 authors. Please click HERE to register for the event and join us at Room A308 (PolyU) from 6.30 pm to 8:30 pm. This event is free of charge for those who have connected with us via one of our social media pages.

Event Three: Publication Panel
- Moderated by invited Writing Roundtable speakers

This 2-hour Pre-Roundtable event combines elements from the Reader’s Theatre and Workshop to form a panel of invited WR speakers and ELC Interest Group members, offering advice on how to incorporate poetry and lesson plans into research and scholarly works for those interested in being published in the tentatively proposed volume of scholarly works.

While we encourage general audience attendance at the Panel, capacity will be capped at 40 total registrants, and priority will be given to Pre-Roundtable event participants.

Proposals are not required for this Pre-Roundtable event. However, we would be grateful if you could prepare, in advance, any questions you might wish to ask in relation to poetry and / or lesson plan focused research writing and publishing, so the panel moderators have the opportunity to consider these appropriately.
