ILAC 2009 has the following goals:
1. | Expand our understanding of learner autonomy in language learning by engaging academics from around the world in interdisciplinary discussion. |
2. | Review achievements in the field and examine the experiences of learners and teachers thereby gaining new perspectives that will enable us to expand our present understanding and improve practice. |
3. | Promote pedagogical innovation and best management practices in classrooms and in self-access centres with the aim of fostering learner autonomy and independent learning. |
4. | Support and consolidate growing interest in self-access learning and learner autonomy worldwide. |
5. | Expand our understanding of the relationship between e-learning initiatives, learner autonomy and independent learning. |
6. | Explore the role of teacher education programmes in preparing educators to work in learning environments that foster learner autonomy and independent learning. |
