CILL Gold, Silver & Bronze Awards Scheme
The aim of the CILL Awards Scheme is to help you become an independent learner. You are encouraged to try a variety of CILL’s learning activities.
Start with a Bronze Award
What you need to do:
- study for 15 hours in CILL
- finish the 5 Bronze worksheets for the book “The Study Skills Handbook” (copies in CILL)
What you will get:
- Bronze Certificate
- Bronze CILL label
- Coupon
Upgrade to the Silver Award
What you need to do:
- study for a further 15 hours in CILL
- finish the 5 Silver worksheets for the book “The Study Skills Handbook” (copies in CILL)
What you will get:
- Silver Certificate
- Silver CILL label
- Photo on the bulletin board
- Coupon
Move up to the Gold Award
What you need to do:
- study for a further 15 hours in CILL
- upload the 5 Gold worksheets onto the Blackboard e-portfolio site
- write a reflection of about 200 words on your independent English language learning
What you will get:
- Gold Certificate
- Gold CILL label
- Photo on the bulletin board
- Letter of recommendation
- Coupon
How to apply
The CILL Awards are based on:
- the number of hours you spend in CILL (including hours doing WAP/ SAP and CILL Workshops held in Room A305)
- the worksheets you complete
Remember
- record your study hours in the CILL using the smart card reader when you enter and leave
- Hours are not counted if you do not use your smart card
- Hours are counted until 31 December (semester 1), 30 May (semester 2) and 31 August (Summer term)
Bronze & Silver Awards
- study for 15 or 30 hours
- ask the counter staff to write down the number of hours on the hours-checking form
- return the completed worksheets to the counter staff
Gold Award
- send an email to elc.cill@polyu.edu.hk to enrol in the Blackboard eportoflio course
- complete a total of 45 hours study
- upload the completed worksheets and 200-word reflection to the Blackboard portfolio course
- ask the CILL counter staff to write down the number of hours on the hours-checking form
