The object of the game is to enrich your vocabulary by learning phrases which can replace clichés. Clichés are some commonly used English phrases which are over-used, worn out and unsuitable for academic papers or other formal writing.
Some typical clichés are: ‘every coin has two sides’, ‘a hot topic’ and ‘a golden solution’. You need to replace them with more varied vocabulary and the game provides suggested replacements, e.g. ‘there are advantages and disadvantages’, ‘a controversial issue’, and ‘a unique opportunity’.
