The object of the game is to enrich your English vocabulary by learning how to avoid informal phrases and use more formal phrases useful for academic papers and other formal writing. Some very common English phrases are too informal for academic writing.
Some typical examples of informal vocabulary are phrases such as: ‘let us consider’, ‘basically’, and ‘find out’. These phrases are too casual and/or basic and should be replaced with more sophisticated wording. You need to replace them with phrases such as ‘it is important to consider’, ‘essentially’, and ‘discover’. The game provides an opportunity to work through such vocabulary.
