The object of the game is to improve your business English writing style by learning how to avoid business jargon. Some commonly used business jargon unsuitable for modern business English writing as they are outdated and wordy (too long).
Some typical examples of jargon are phrases such as: ‘I am in the receipt of’, ‘in the event that’, and ‘please be good enough to advise us’. These phrases are too long and outdated and should be replaced with more modern and concise (brief) wording. You need to replace them with phrases such as ‘I have’, ‘if’, and ‘please inform us’. The game provides an opportunity to work through such vocabulary. A downloadable reference sheet is available on completion of the game.
