The recent financial turmoil has caused no difficulties for Hong Kong freight forwarders - Cause: The competition among Hong Kong and China shipping company
 - because: The services provided by China shipping company is cheaper.
- but: decreasing demand for goods has led to decreasing demand for shipping goods
 - because: Hong Kong has facing a great competitor such as Shang Hai
 - Solution: one possible solution is to explore new market (for example : Latin America)
- Problem: As the relationship of mainland China and Taiwan improve a lot, the role of logistics centre bewteen mainland and Taiwan has lost
- because: It is true for Hong Kong
- but: however, in terms of technology and infrastructure, Hong Kong is still in advance.
- Cause: Shipping companies in Hong Kong find it very difficult to get credit from the banks.
- Solution: government could provide guarantee for shipping company
- Effect: The maintainence fees of those unused ships is very high.
- but: Since the ship is age around 20-25, company can scrap the ship which is old, it can minimzie the operating cost.
- Cause: Due to the financial crisis , the demands for shipping have decreased.
- Solution: Find new direction, better cooperation with China, exporting goods from China to other countries
- Solution: Hong Kong Government have done something to help logistic industries~for example infrastructure (eg.railway)
- but: relatively high labour cost of Hong Kong is one of challenge for the industry to survive in financial turmoil
- but: pirates are more active after the financial turmoil
- but: The impact of financial crisis is global, Hong Kong will be affected, but not the greatest.
- Effect: Many employees of shipping company were laid off
