Points:
The Good Point! site could be improved by these suggestions - because: some points are not related to pros or cons, but people placed them as such. There may not be enough guidelines on how to add a point.
- Problem: many computer users tend to ignore written guidelines
- Solution: design the interaction so that the user has no choice but to do things correctly
- Problem: limiting the interaction restricts freedom
- because: the text box should have no word limit
- Problem: with no word limit users could add very long texts containing many points
- Problem: multiple arguments in one point would make it difficult to reply to individual arguments
- because: if my classmates add points frequently, I would also visit the site frequently
- Solution: maybe your classmates feel the same, so why don't you add more points?
- because: Good Point should have a Chinese version (Click here to see this discussion in full)
- because: although the presentation planner can generate the PPT for us, it cannot be saved or I don't know how to use it
- Solution: the presentations produced by the Presentation planner are in HTML format, and so can be saved using your browser's File > Save menu.
- because: categories of topics should be more clearly divided
- Solution: categories with a large number of topics are automatically divided into Hong Kong, China, World and Other sub-categories
- because: add more topics
- Solution: more topics are being added continuously: see the link to see the latest ones. (html)
- because: more promotion of site
- Solution: Good Point will be the subject of a workshop at a conference in June 2009
- Solution: Good Point! will be promoted to HKPU teachers this semester
- Solution: Good Point will be used on more ELC subjects this semester
- because: more real-time info. exchange with other sites
- Problem: until we have a semantic web, it is hard to dynamically update data (Semantic Web (2009) )
- because: provide some video clips
- Solution: Good Point's reference hyperlinks can lead to external pages with video; e.g. on YouTube
- because: make the site colorful & more attractive
- Solution: a new graphic design was implemented in January 2009
