Vol. 8.2 November 2003 - Language
In a Norwegian cocktail lounge:

Ladies are requested not to have children in the bar.

Explanation: This bar has a 'no children' policy due to the presence of alcohol. However, as to have children refers to childbirth, the message becomes somewhat more unusual. Using the verb bring instead of have would have avoided this miscommunication.

In an Acapulco hotel:

The manager has personally passed all the water served here.

Explanation: The intended meaning of pass here is 'to test something and decide that it is good enough'. Complicating the matter, however, is the polite and formal euphemism to pass water, which means 'urinate'. The resulting meaning is unpleasant, to say the least. I'd stick to coke, if I were you!
