Introduction:
This task is for you to practise matching adjectives that end in suffixes with
nouns that collocate.
Some suffixes can be used to create or coin new words. Thus, a stress-free life is a life without any stress and a tax-free shop is a shop where there is no tax. Other common examples include:
-conscious; e.g. health-conscious, meaning is concerned about
-ridden; e.g. bedridden, meaning limited to or damaged by
-minded; e.g. money-minded, meaning thinks that this is important
-led; e.g. community-led, technology-led, market-led, customer-led, meaning that something is the leader or organiser, or the leading or organising principle, so a market-led company will produce products and services that their customer research shows that consumers want, but a technology-led company will use its leading technology to produce high-tech products that customers could not previously imagine.
-proof; e.g. waterproof, meaning that something cannot be damaged or penetrated by this
-worthy; e.g. praiseworthy, meaning that something deserves this
