Here are some common mistakes students make in
presentations:
- don't read your presentation from a piece of paper - use note cards
- don't spend all your presentation telling your audience things they
already know - teach them something new and useful
- don't have the Overhead Projector turned on all the time
- don't have Overhead Transparencies (OHTs) as your only visual aid
- don't have paragraphs on your OHTs - point form only
- don't forget to check the pronunciation of words that you are not sure
about, especially if they are important words in your presentation. CILL has a CD-ROM
dictionary that you can listen to for pronunciation.
Check your presentation plan for these problems, and get rid of them!
